Librarian Marilyn Scherfen had this to say about the event:“The Atlantic Highlands Public Library Board is delighted to have the Library designated as recipient of the proceeds from this year’s Chilifest. We thank the Front Porch Club and especially Benson and Sarah Chiles, who hosted the party, one spiced with camaraderie and fun. Through the event, the Chiles fostered a marvelous sense of community, spotlighting the library as a center for that community. The gift will be earmarked for children’s programs. During the past year, donations have enabled a number of special children’s library events to be presented; most notably, the Summer Mini-Camp provided eight weeks of instruction and entertainment in science and the arts. This donation will insure those kinds of programs will continue and flourish.”
