October 3, 2011, Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. The Atlantic Highlands Front Porch Club hosted its 7th Annual Chilifest on Saturday, October 1 at the Strauss Mansion in Atlantic Highlands. It took a few years but Atlantic Highlands resident Daniel Thurman returned to the top of the Chilifest charts with his “CincoOcho” chili. The CincoOcho refers to the five different kinds of meat and the eight varieties of homegrown peppers used in his recipe. The fifth annual Atlantic Highlands Front Porch Chilifest raised $4,500 to make repairs to the Strauss Mansion on Prospect Circle and increased awareness of the local historical society. More ... Chilifest 2008
The Fourth Annual Atlantic Highlands Front Porch Club Chilifest, held on October 4, 2008, raised $3,000 with all proceeds going to the AACC Food Pantry. Third Annual Front Porch Club Chilifest Benefits Atlantic Highlands Library
More than 200 people attended Saturday’s third annual Front Porch Club Chilifest hosted by Todd and Charlotte Magee of Atlantic Highlands. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Atlantic Highlands library.
“By every measure, this was the most successful Chilifest yet,” said Benson Chiles, last year’s host. “How can you beat it . . . great weather, gracious hosts, fun neighbors, hot chili, cold beer, and a good cause. This is what community is all about.” Chilifest 2006
Congratualtions to Dan Thurman, the winner of the the 2nd Annual Front Porch Club Chilifest. Dan's chili recipe was not as spicy as his entry last year, but it featured a new ingredient--pumpkin. Thanks to all of the sponsors, volunteers and participants. In addition to a fun day, more than $800 was raised to benefit the Atlantic Highlands Library. More ...
